Only 3 days to go until the One Health EJP Annual Scientific Meeting 2022! – 8th April 2022.

We look forward to welcoming attendees to the One Health EJP ASM starting on Monday 11th April. This three-day hybrid event will be held both online and at Palazzo dei Congressi di Orvieto in the historic city of Orvieto, Italy.

This multi-disciplinary, scientific meeting aims to highlight key scientific outcomes from the field of One Health, including the achievements of the One Health EJP. It will bring together delegates from across the world to share presentations and discussions on key One Health initiatives and activities. Meeting topics will focus on emerging threats (e.g., zoonotic pathogens), foodborne zoonoses and antimicrobial resistance. Invited speakers include Prof Tiago Correia (NOVA University of Lisbon), Dr Elisabetta Suffredini (Istituto Superiore di Sanità), Prof Raina Plowright (Montana State University), Dr Jean-Yves Madec (ANSES), Prof Bruno González-Zorn (Complutense University of Madrid) and Dr Vittorio Fattori (FAO).  There will also be contributions from the MedVetNet Association.

The research conducted by One Health EJP PhD students will be presented in the three-minute thesis competition on 11th April and further explained at the roundtable discussion of PhD projects on 13th April.  These activities provide an important opportunity for PhD students to gain communications skills by sharing their research with this international audience.

The social events of welcome drinks on the evening of 11th April and dinner in a traditional restaurant on 12th April will encourage informal discussions on One Health to continue!

Following on from the ASM, the Satellite Workshop “Diagnostics workshop: mobile detection platforms for One Health diagnostics applications” takes place on 14th April as an online event. This workshop aims to discuss factors influencing the design of diagnostic assays for One Health applications, including sample types, target sequences and assay format, reflecting on current standard diagnostics in public and animal health. It will also illustrate the applications and benefits of two key mobile diagnostic platforms of loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) and loop-primer endonuclease cleavage LAMP (LEC-LAMP).
