Med-Vet-Net Next Generation Sequencing Workshop

On Friday 25th of September the Med-Vet-Net Association supported the Workshop ‘Modern technologies to enable response to crises: Next Generation Sequencing to tackle foodborne diseases in the EU”.

The working group on Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) from the EU Reference Laboratories: Antimicrobial Resistance, Campylobacter, E. coli, Foodborne viruses, Listeria, Parasites, Salmonella and Staphylococci) organised this “Science meets policy” conference to bring experts together.

The aim of the conference was to discuss the vision and challenges of the NGS technology in its adoption at the EU level as well as in its use for multi country outbreaks. This was the place to highlight possible difficulties with NGS at country level, the need for a legal framework and also to consider possible solutions.

The workshop was a great success with more than 300 participants!
